My first post. Hooray!

NOTE: I did NOT choose this tiny font! This is a glitch on Blogger's end; even editing the source code hasn't changed it. I've done all I can on my end, and am awaiting a response from Google. Please bear with me in the meantime.

After a few frustrating, infuriating, gloriously triumphant weeks of tinkering with Ren'Py, it occurred to me that, hey, maybe writing all this down might not be such a bad idea.

The project that I'm currently working on is a test, as I learn my way around the program. At the moment, all of the backgrounds/avatars are placeholders, most of which I *ahem* borrowed without permission. An artist I am not, so should any of the images I'm currently using end up in my final product, permission will be asked, and credit will be given. In the meantime, I'm trying to focus on functionality over aesthetics. Hopefully once I've cobbled together an acceptable game, I can worry about how pretty it looks.

On the other hand, I did put together some mean button and text box art in Photoshop. So there is that. *grins*

Since this is a first post, I suppose I can make a list of stuff I need to back-cover. You'll learn shortly that I like lists. A lot. ^^

My next few posts will consist of:
  • styling: screens and buttons
  • styling: pause menu
  • tooltips
  • the joys of character selection
If any of those topics interest you, I'll be posting my working code, as well as the Lemma Soft forum threads that kept me from pulling my hair out. Thoughts/questions/comments/concerns/streamlining tips will all be accepted. Hope to see you soon!
